Rate Cut On The Horizon

The Bank of England is believed to be ready to make an interest rate cut before the end of the year.

Another Monetary Policy Committee member, Kate Barker, yesterday hinted at a rate cut, saying that the finacial problems are damaging the economy.

The worry for the Bank is that inflation is set to continue its rise above the current 4.7% level. Cutting rates when inflation continuing to rise above the Bank’s 2% target could send the wrong signal. But it seems some MPC members are thinking that the lending drought is proving so damaging that this is a risk worth taking.
